Couple's Therapy

When two people come together in a committed relationship, they open themselves to the strengths and weaknesses, healthy and unhealthy aspects of each other. In such a relationship, we become vulnerable, which is the true ground of intimacy. Without vulnerability, love cannot flourish. Of course, when we are vulnerable we can be hurt. This is the risk of love. The well-being of each person in a relationship rests in knowing and experiencing appreciation for who each person is because when we feel appreciated we feel loved. My role as a couple's therapist is to help each person come to a fuller expression and experience of appreciation so that love and intimacy can grow. The process of therapy is focused on utilizing resources and skills to resolve personal challenges and/or crisis in a positive, constructive manner that enables a couple to heal, learn and grow into greater fulfillment.
